1990 CENSUS
EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
EEO FILE
The 1990 Census Equal Employment Opportunity EEO File is based on civilian
labor force (defined as all civilians 16 years old and over who were employed and
the unemployed actively seeking work) data from the 1990 decennial census.
The file contains two sample based sets of tabulations. The first set is
a cross-tabulation of a detailed census occupation distribution by sex, race,
and Hispanic origin. The second set shows educational attainment for selected
age groupings, by sex, race, and Hispanic origin.
All tables in this file present data for the entire civilian labor force.
Occupation data is available only for the "recent-experienced civilian labor
force" (defined as persons employed in 1990 or unemployed having civilian
work experience between 1985-1990). All remaining persons in the civilian
labor force are in the residual line "unemployed with no civilian work
experience since 1985." This line includes all persons who reported
themselves as unemployed in 1990 and one of the following: (1) their last job
since 1985 was in the Armed Forces and they had a uniquely military occupation;
or (2) they last worked in 1984 or earlier; or (3) they reported
that they had never worked.
